30/12/14 - Kane 'The End - And they lived happily ever after'

Translation to English of Kane's announcement closing the book - Thanks to Jenneke Edwards once more.

And they lived happily ever after. This is how the best fairy-tale ends, and now, from today, also ours. In a fantastic adventure book, we anticipated it would happen ourselves but never expected that it would be this big. Now we have arrived on the last page.

From the first mutual spark while jamming in the basement of Rotterdam-Schiedam West in 1998, which caught fire in De Paap in The Hague, via "Where Do I Go Now?" which was first played on 3FM by Isabel to a twice sold out in 20 minutes Ahoy in 2001. The first MTV award for a Dutch band and several more after that, as well as several relevant prizes and gold, often platinum, records. The fairy-tale made it on to the 8 o'clock news numerous times. 'As Long As You Want This' and 'So Glad You Made It' raised the bar with 8 hit singles in a row. It brought us to our first stadium concert in the Amsterdam ArenA on 23rd June 2003. KANE. SOLD OUT.

There were also the deep personal tragedies. Like in every good fairy-tale drama and happiness went hand in hand. The fire for the music as therapy has always been the key, in good times and bad times. The proof of that can be found on albums like 'Fearless' and 'Everything You Want'. What a blessing when you record every 2 years in the shape of songs. In the summers of 2005 and 2008 we played in front of 42,000 people at the beach in Almere and in the Kuip in Rotterdam. Fantastic milestones!

We were tested many times: in the garden of big success hang many apples. Some for us but the bulk were most likely for others. It brought us 'No Surrender'. Our anthem. Stripped of everything. Recorded in the same time as the length of the track is. It turned out to be our biggest lesson which we tried to continue on, as we know now, our last album 'Come Together': Say it as it is. As it is now, 1001 nights or rather 1001 gigs down the line, different than it usually was. A sabbatical with an open end we called it a year ago.

Now a year on, we don't feel the need anymore to record a new album or to go onto the stage to play live. We have said what we wanted to say, longer that we dared to predict, with more support than we could ever have hoped to dream about. To prevent repetition, honouring the fire, it is time to close the book.

But not without thanking all the musicians for every moment we knew it was real. To all the people who have assisted us creatively and in business because they believed in us and in that one chance. Thank you for the inspiration. Thank you for the faith. Thank you for your input. Together we have done it.

We especially thank all our fans, all the supporters, all the followers who ever bought or passed on a song, album, ticket, t-shirt or whatever. All the letters, fan sites, chat groups, communities and more, thanks to you we have been able to experience all this.

Until today Kane has had a large group of loyal followers around them. A group of people, who for whatever reason chose a moment in time to walk the same path. We want to applaud that moment. That is the reason behind the success we were allowed to experience. This is a great thing. Perhaps the highest attainable within what we can achieve.
We are grateful for so much support, energy and inspiration. Thank you for a truly fabulous time.

For us it will be mostly letting go in order to move on. We will do that with enormous pride and with an always-glowing heart for what we were allowed to experience. A unique story, a fairytale if you like. We will reread it every now and then and also relive it every now and then with a smile on our faces.

For now it is finished. The book is closed. Releasing, and wanting to move on. For every end a new beginning, that is how it will be. And they lived happily ever after.

The end.

30/12/14 - Kane 'The End'

When I first read the news that Kane are calling it a day my first reaction was gutted. This being because over the 10 years of being a fan, it has been their music, live shows and kindness that picked me up when times were down. I have nothing but amazing memories and got to attend some outstanding special events. It only took a few minutes for that gutted feeling to turn into smiles thinking of all the memories and good times I had along the way.

I first became a fan on just a support slot they did for Maroon 5 in London March 2004. Since then I have attended almost 50 gigs/events which also means I made numerous amounts of flights between Cardiff and The Netherlands for these said events. I almost made it to Elite status with KLM ;) I could list all the events, all the memories, all the pictures but you can see them any time on Kane Rocks. I have been a very fortunate person to have such kindness shown to me by Kane, their management and others that surround them. They were truly one happy family and I'm sure will still continue to be like family members to each other.

I spent so much time on the streets to get to the front, money on flights/hotels and the website that was created from that first time seeing them. I chose to be a fan and I chose to keep the website alive even when the English fans started to disappear after losing hope of Kane returning to our shores. And so I feel I owe Kane many thanks for the music that soothes my soul and mind, the live shows for the energy I feel afterwards, the kindness and appreciation they showed me for being a fan and most of all because I have made friends with some amazing people and friendships I feel will continue from this.

This leaves me to say thank you so much Dinand, Dennis, Lucy, Ramona, Diana and all the other people I encountered over the past 10 years including old band members and new. I am so glad I made it and thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me life time memories and friendships that will be hard to break. Good luck with all your new beginnings.

Kane Rocks will stay online for now as it is always nice to have the choice to look back on all good things and I hope to have the translation of the announcement Kane made for you very soon.

07/04/14 - Kane Rocks 10 years online

Kane Rocks has been online exactly 10 years today. I first saw Kane as a support slot in UK and was sold just after that first show. Kane Rocks was created for many reasons including campaigning to get Kane back to UK, to have a website in English for the non Dutch fans and to support this band that I had instantly became addicted to. Fast forward 10 years, I'm still as addicted to Kane as I was then if not more and I have collected some of the most amazing memories anyone could wish for. A huge thank you to Kane for the ride and I hope that there will be many more to come.

Also don't forget to celebrate being online for 10 years, there is a Kane fan reunion on Friday 16th May. More details about this night can be found here.

I have put together a video of Kane and myself over the 10 years and some of the lovely people I've met along the way.

09/03/14 - Kane Rocks 10 years online celebration party

Kane Rocks will have been online 10 years next month. It has brought me so much pleasure and so many friends aside from my addiction to Kane and I'm glad to have found Kane to inspire this website. In order to celebrate this I'm holding another 'Kane night'. It would be so lovely to see people that I've met/spoke to over the years attend for what should be a good party night. It will be held on Friday 16 May 2014 at The Wharf in Cardiff Bay. For all the information on the night please visit here.

15/12/13 - Reviews of the Come Together Club Tour

The shows that I attended for the last tour before Kane take their break are online. Pictures will be online shortly. You can view them all from here. All the shows proved to be more than exepcted with Kane really putting on shows that will leave you breathless, cotent yet wanting more. I know I'll certainly miss the great vibes and energy from the live shows but everyone needs a break in awhile.

01/10/13 - Kane to take a timeout!

It has been recently announced that Kane will be taking a year out from all things Kane. They still have the club tour to do this year but 2014 will see Kane put on pause. They've indicated this is not the end of Kane just a break and they will be back in 2015. They've certainly earned a break/timeout and I wish them well and hope they get to fulfill all that they plan. Firstly though counting the days to that club tour. You can read the full statement (with the help of google translate) here.

06/09/13 - Happy Birthday Dinand!

07-Apr-2013 - Kane Rocks online for 9 years!

9 years ago today Kane Rocks was first published. Keeping the website going has had many challenges, but as I enjoy listening and seeing Kane, my mission to keep as many people informed about Kane that are non Dutch, those challenges and goals will keep on living. To celebrate 9 years, I am sure you have noticed already I've designed a new site, one that fits in with the latest album 'Come Together' scheme. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do and I look forward to many more years to come. Also note that Kane Rocks, a bit slow on the uptake has also expanded to the world of social media: Facebook - Twitter - Youtube. Thanks as always for your support and the drive to keep this dream going.

New Video for 'I Love This City'

Checkout the new video released for the next single from 'Come Together'. 'I Love This City' is the ideal choice for a single and one that is a personal favourite off the album of mine.
